KOMBUCHA
INGREDIENTS
1 Gallon open mouth glass jar
cloth covers and one rubber band
6 - 12 oz glass jars (reuse some store bought kombucha jars)
1 Scooby *
4 tablespoons loose black or green tea (or 8 tea bags)
1 cup sugar
Optional additions - turmeric, ginger juice, unsweetened cranberry juice or just about any juice and spices, the combinations are endless.
DIRECTIONS
1) Make sure you have all the equipment - gallon glass jar, scooby, 6 - 12 oz glass jars
2) Boil 4 cups of water in a pot
3) Once boiling, add tea, turn off heat and steep for 10 minutes
4) Take tea out or strain loose tea.
5) Add 1 cup of sugar and slowly stir until dissolved
6) Add tea to gallon glass jar and add another 4 cups of water
7) Place scooby on jar
8) Place cloth on top of jar and secure with rubber band
9) Place jar in a dark place (closet or basement) where the temperature is consistently about 70 degrees Fahrenheit
10) Let ferment for 10 days

Once Kombucha is done then you can flavor with turmeric (1/8 tsp) and ginger (1 tsp) or 1/4 cup unsweetened cranberry juice or grape juice. There are so many options it comes down to individual tastes. Simply look up how to flavor my kombucha and your sure to find something that peaks your interest!

*Scooby is best to purchase online, yes even Amazon will sell you this and I've never had a problem buying it online. Though it must be said that you can make this on your own if you would like. And it's also noteworthy to mention that once you begin your first kombucha jar through the fermentation process you will grow another scooby so please feel free to share with a friend!
